India, the biggest democracy in the world is proud of the fact that a country of one billion, with nations within the Nation; where landscape, culture and language change every hundred kilometers, has still remained united as one – only through the biggest interaction of politically expressed differences, by way of debates in this living democracy. The soul of India is its democracy and the heartbeat must be the debates as heard from the by- lanes of small towns to the parliament, giving hope for every citizen to be heard and his ideas represented. Realizing the importance of cultivating the art of free but responsible debating among the youth of the nation, Deepak Thimaya, an eminent media personality from Bangalore, Karnataka State, conceptualized Verbattle. From coining the word to giving it the structure and formulating its spirit, he has been more than its founder. He is also well known for conducting political debates on tv. Verbattle is the acronym of Verbal Battle. The biggest debate and dialogue platform founded and promoted to facilitate thought-interaction at all levels in a multidimensional society like India. Verbattle, started in 2005, has been reaching out to school children in the form of Verbattle Junior and to college youth as Verbattle Senior - two major debate competitions which can be easily considered as the biggest intellectual event for children and youth in the state of Karnataka. Verbattle is just a small contribution towards making the future of the Indian democracy, better and stronger and the political and social debates more qualitative and meaningful. Preparing the youth of today for the debates of the future, can only strengthen everyone's hope for a better society of tomorrow with a greater nation, greater world for all of us. Verbattle though a competition, with fun and competitive spirit, has a subtle purpose to attempt to awaken the superior human spirit in the youth it attempts to reach. Verbattle of today is widely regarded as an instrument of change and a gift for tomorrow. The aims of Verbattle: Verbattle has the patronage of writers, philosophers, politicians and experts in governance and public issues. Verbattle believes it is important to cultivate among children the art of speaking sensibly and responsibly and to develop the culture of listening to opposing or differing opinions in an attempt to inspire the sparking of leadership in the citizens of tomorrow Verbattle is already shaping into a national event, and thereafter, as a global opportunity for exchange of opinions for right thinking people all over the world.
