The topics are for the selection round only. The two members in a team need to select one topic which is the same for both the participants and one should speak in favor of the statement and the other must speak against.

Development of technology is intellectual mischief.
  1. Participants are expected to be prepared for all the statements.
  2. The statement for debate will be available per debating group only 2 hours in advance from among the statements in the list by way of a blind draw.
  3. The debates will be between three teams at a time. The total duration of each debate will be 15 minutes. Each team (any of the team members may speak) is given a maximum of one minute per argument. A total of 5 minutes will be made available for each team in slots of 1 minute each.
  4. Team names per debate will be announced at 9 am at the venue on the day of the event and the call number and time of each debate will also be given. The first debate will start in approximately two hours after the first announcement of the first statements.
  5. After the completion of the argument by each team or at the expiry of the one minute time, or whichever is earlier, the opportunity will pass on to the next team. On completion of the arguments, or on completion of eight rounds, or on expiry of 15 minutes stipulated per debate, or whichever is earlier the debate will be concluded and the judges will complete evaluation.
  6. Any team may finish their arguments at any stage, any round or at any time within stipulated time. If all the three teams finish the arguments early then the debate will be deemed concluded. No extension of time will be given to any team after the debate is over, however interesting or incomplete the argument maybe. At the end of debate, the highest scoring team among the three teams per debate is declared the winner for the debate.

Quarter Finals and Semi Finals

The selected teams must be prepared and Knowledgeable in all the given subjects.

  1. All subjects are to be studied in the Indian context.
  2. The debates will be between three teams at a time. The total duration of each debate will be 18 minutes. Each team (any of the team members may speak) is given a maximum of one minute per argument. A total of 6 minutes will be made available for each team in slots of 1 minute each.
  3. The debate will be based on a statement given approximately two hours before the time of debate for the concerned teams. Two teams will take on one side of the debate whereas the third team will be on the opposite side. The side taken by a team is decided on the basis of blind draw.
  4. Team names per debate will be announced at 9 am at the venue on the day of the event and the call number and time of each debate will also be given. The first debate will start in approximately two hours after the first announcement of the first statements.
  5. During the debate after the completion of the argument by each team or at the expiry of the one minute time, or whichever is earlier, the opportunity will pass on to the next team. On completion of the arguments, or on completion of six rounds, or on expiry of 18 minutes stipulated per debate, or whichever is earlier the debate will be concluded and the judges will complete evaluation.
  6. Any team may finish their arguments at any stage, any round or at any time within the stipulated time. If all the three teams finish the arguments early then the debate will be deemed concluded.   7. Likewise there will be 9 debates involving all the selected 27 teams. 
  8. A total of 9 teams only will be selected for the pre-finals. The same process shall be repeated.

Please note that there will be no travel or accommodation facilities provided for the quarters and pre-finals event. However, teams selected for the Final will be provided with to and fro travel fare as well as economical stay costs.
